Hello Can anyone recommend a good loan modification attorney? Or do you think I should try this alone. If so, can you recommend a good book so I will know what not to do?
Thanks!
Hi. Just wanted to send you a quick reply to your question… “ Can anyone recommend a good loan modification attorney? Or do you think I should try this alone. If so, can you recommend a good book so I will know what not to do?”
Without knowing all your details…there are several ways to answer your question.
If you find an attorney you wish to do business with… and the attorney specializes in loan modifications, you may have a very good chance to have a successful result.
Are you still working or have some type of income? Please remember, you must have money available in order to be considered for a loan modification. I am surprised how many people think you don’t need money, job, or someway to pay the mortgage payment. And yet still expect the bank to consider them for a loan modification program. Well, let’s get back to your question. Another good thing about having an attorney help you with your loan modification is all the paperwork and legal steps. You want to try to get the bank to reduce your interest rate and/or lower your mortgage payments. And if you have a property worth less than the current balance, you may also be able to have your current principal balance reduced. This can work on you first mortgage and can really work if you also have a second mortgage. A good attorney can get paperwork in order so all your options can be viewed by you and the bank for negotiation.
Without knowing where you live or the county/state where property is located… I hesitate to offer specific attorney. If you would like to give a little more info I will try to help. Come back to this site and let me know.
As far as reading material… here are some ideas for you. These are not in any specific order. However, they contain very helpful information.
1. Loan Modification For Dummies by Ralph R. Roberts
2. Loan Modification Made Simple: An Insider Guide by Thomas Powell
3. Fight Foreclosure!: How to Cope with a Mortgage by David Petrovich
4. The Foreclosure Workbook by Carla Douglin
5. 23 Legal Defenses To Foreclosure by Troy Doucet
6. Stop Foreclosure Now by Lloyd Segal
7. 42 Rules for Saving Your House from Foreclosure…Loan Modification Process…etc..by David Coleman, Craig Triance, and Laura Lowell
And there is another resource I know of that contains materials, handbook, cd, dvd, etc. I think it is called The Complete Loan Modification Guide and it is written by Susan Gregory and Cutberto Hernandez
I hope this information helps you in your quest for knowledge. Have a great day.
Marc.
